Memories

Done for the Creative Photo Treatments Challenge found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/may-challenge-2-creative-photo-treatments.39749/

Journaling reads:  I learned how to drive a stick shift on a 1973 VW Beetle after my husband and I were married in 1976.  He was my teacher.  He took me to the bottom of a hill.....in town.....and I stalled out..... with traffic backing up behind me.  He threw up his hands and said, “You’ve got to get yourself out of this.”  I was so angry with him!  But when I finally got to the top of the hill I was determined that would never happen again!  And it didn’t!  It was the  best lesson he could have taught me!

Journaling reads:  Since discovering I have severe osteoporosis earli- er this year and knowing my inactivity is a big factor in the diagnosis, I am trying to explore my options in a healthy life- style change.  One of the things I have always enjoyed is walking.  So, I try to go to the track and walk as much as possible and as far as possible de- pending on how my back is feeling.  I just have to make sure it isn’t too hot when I go.  And I listen to an audiobook to take my mind off of my physical problems.   4/29/24

Monthly Review - March

Left:

Mark spoils me.  I’m not complaining!  We have stomach issues and eat very differently and at different times a lot of the time.  So when we are hungry at the same time we usually go out and grab something.  Even then I rarely eat all of my food and bring the leftovers home for Mark.  3/1/24

I love getting fresh eggs from the neighbors!  3/3/24

One of the neighbor’s chickens enjoying bugs from our yard!  3/5/24

Eating lunch with my good friend at one of our favorite places, Randy’s.  3/6/24

A dove searching for goodies in the yard.  3/10/24

Warm enough for flip flops and a walk in the woods.  3/11/24

Beautiful purple violets in the yard.  3/12/24

My sister and I play Rummikub at night.  Asher likes to lay next to me on my recliner.  3/11/24

Right:

Sunday morning.  3/17/24

Spring colors in the trees.   3/26/24

I loved seeing this male cardinal peek around the birdseed column.  It was a comical look.  3/28/24

We tried a new steakhouse (new to us) and we enjoyed it, called Yarborough’s.  3/28/24

Our first bike ride of the year.  We took a short trip to Dairi-O in Thomasville to see how it might affect my back.  It didn’t seem to bother me at all!  3/29/24

Mark and Piper in our woods.  3/30/24

A beautiful evening so Mark and I enjoyed our devotions out on the deck.  3/30/24

Our first ride with our dear friends, Bobby and Joy.  It was a beautiful afternoon, so we rode to Lakeview Restaurant and ate KFC out on their patio that overlooks the lake.  3/31/24

Monthly Review - April

Left:

Dogwood blossoms means spring is here!  4/1/24

Stormy skies are another sign of spring.  4/2/24

Ilene’s granddaughter, Katelyn, had a yard sale at her house and I took some of my scrapbooking stuff to sell.  I was able to sell $56 worth of items to one lady and a few little items.  4/5/24

Imagine my surprise when I woke up on Monday looking like this!  I read on the internet that it was probably sun poisoning.  Not sure why it took a couple of days to appear after my sunburn from the yard sale.  4/8/24

This hawk sat perch- ed in the neighbor’s tree, waiting and watching.  4/12/24

This wood sorrel (oxalis) grows at the edge of the house.  I love the delicate lilac color and wait for its appearance every year.  4/13/24

The appearance of hummingbirds is a springtime highlight!  4/13/24

I took this photo of Ilene’s azaleas.  The bees were very busy!  4/15/24

Right:

Our girls trip to Pennsylvania this year was for the purpose of seeing the Daniel presentation at the Sight and Sound theater in Strasburg.  4/18/24

The hotel we stay at each year is so nice and clean and not too far from the theater.  And they give us each $8 vouchers for breakfast every morning at the Speckled Hen restaurant across the street from the hotel.  4/17/24

Ilene and I standing in front of the Sight and Sound Theater before the show.  4/18/24

On Friday, among other things, we took an Amish buggy ride. I asked permission to take our photo.  He said, “I guess but I don’t know why you want one of an old man!”  4/19/24

A little bit chilly, but a beautiful day to get in a walk at the track by Mark’s shop.  I love listening to an audiobook while I walk.  Takes my mind off of the task!  4/25/24

We have a couple of dead trees in the yard that need to come down, but not all the way so we can add bird houses to the stumps.  We added some of the branches back to the tree for the birds to light on.  4/26/24

Five of us went to the Ladies’ Jubilee at Damascus Baptist Church from 10-12.  We stopped at Applebee’s on the way home.  4/27/24

I'm finally caught up with my Monthly Reviews!  Now to do some more challenges and work on my ATC's.

ATC's and Other Things

I have a daily devotional book, "One Good Word a Day", that focuses on one word a day and references a scripture verse to go with that word. While I was MIA for about 6 weeks I decided to create ATCs using the words and verses to the devotional. Sometimes I find a different verse or change the word just a bit but I am enjoying the process! Instead of posting them individually, I decided to save space and make collections of 9 per 8.5x11 pages.

Why?

How often have we asked God, “Why?” And we never seem to get an answer?  Is it because we’ve already made up our minds that God hasn’t been fair so we don’t hear Him even when He does answer?  He always answers…..in His will, not ours!

Journaling reads:  3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, 4 If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God.  Proverbs 2:3-5  4/26/24

While I was MIA for about 6 weeks I got behind on my Monthly Review layouts.  I'm not yet caught up,  but I'm working on them.  Here is January and February.  I'll add the spread and the left and right sides.

Monthly Review - January

Left Side:

One of the highlights of the year for me is our Christmas gathering.  We moved it into January so that Nathanael, Sam and Addy could join in the celebration with us.  Unfortunately, Michael got the flu the day before traveling, so they canceled.  We always have a great time, great food, great games, great conversation, great family togetherness and a great photo shoot!  We rarely have to take a second picture!  January 13-14, 2024

Everyone at church loves to see the family and I love that they all come with us!  1/14/24

New Year’s Day and I picked up the knitting needles for the first time since my pickleball mishap in October 2023.

Pretty bluebird fluffing itself in the chill and damp.  1/6/24

Lunch at Mamma Mia’s with Mark and Noah.  1/4/24

Of all the times for our furnace to quit, it had to be the week the kids were coming in for the Christmas gathering!  But Jack McGrew worked especially hard to get it fixed since we had family coming in!  In the mean time, Liz and Brad let us borrow their ceramic heater, which was a life saver!  1/11/24

Right Side:

One of the highlights of my day is going to lunch with Mark because it breaks up the monotony!  1/24/24

Love spending time with my beautiful friend, Ilene!    1/26/24

Robin Red Breat looking for goodies in the yard!  1/27/24

I picked Ilene up and then we picked Mark and Noah up at the shop.  We went to Cagney’s, I believe, for breakfast.  Ilene turned 84 today.  1/18/24

Willow, Jenifer’s German Wire-haired pointer bred with an Aussie Doodle, and gave birth to 6 super cute puppies!  I love the smell of new puppies!  And they are so soft!  1/19/24

The Red Lion Amaryllis Jennifer gave me at Thanksgiving gave us a spectacular show as it opened with 6 blooms.  These are the last two before finally being spent before the end of the month.  1/17/24

Memory Lane

Journaling reads:  Mark wanted me to meet him and Noah at Mama Mia’s for lunch.  It worked out perfectly to do that so I could pick up my grocery order after we ate.  While I picked up the groceries, Mark took Noah back to the shop.  Mark took the rest of the day off for his birthday.  He did some work around the house and then later in the day I treated him to a birthday supper at Ruby Tuesday.  I wanted to treat him to seafood, but the seafood shops are closed on Mondays.  He was able to get some shrimp with his meal and he got a free funnel cake sundae for dessert!  4/29/24
