MORE Snow!

Let it Snow

Journaling reads:  This is our 3rd snow so far this year!  I don’t remember it even snowing 3 times in one year since moving to NC 14 years ago!

I placed the dark bg first and layered it with a lighter color and blended it with the overlay mode to make the area lighter behind the photo.  I used one of the paint elements as a photo mask.

Whose Woods These Are

I love taking photos of the snow.  My husband was going to walk his dog in the woods and I had him take the camera along to get some pictures.

Whose Woods These Are

Journaling reads:  Whose woods these are I think I know.  His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow. – Robert Frost (1874-1963)  The beauty of the snow falling silently to the ground is a wonderful thing to watch.  It seems to bring a halt to everything.  And in that halt of activity comes a peace.  A pure, white peace.

Winter Snow

I love this picture my husband took of the neighbor's cows while he was back in our woods.  They sure were curious about him taking their picture!  I'm sure they did not really feel the cold or pay attention to the snow collecting on their backs, but it makes me thankful that I am not a cow!

  2. Painted paper next
  3. Photo Masked Photo next

For the Birds!

I have had so much fun watching and capturing pictures of the birds at my feeders this winter!  I'm wondering where some of them have been!  I rarely ever see towhees or dark-eyed juncos.  And even the house finches have been sparse!  Maybe the colder-than-normal, snowier-than usual winter has brought them around!  Whatever the reason, I'm glad to oblige and feed them!

Bird Watching

Journaling reads: I love seeing the different kinds of birds that come to my feeders. Seeing this Red-bellied Woodpecker was a lovely sight!

Dark-eyed Juncos

Done for the January 2022 Anna Aspnes Color Challenge
Journaling reads: The dark-eyed juncos move quickly across the iced snow beneath the bird feeders to gather up the scattered morsels of seeds.

Red-bellied Woodpeckers

Done for the January 2022 AnnaLift - My inspiration from Life is a Story: 1930 Road Trip by NanaJ were the multiphotos and the larger blended photo.

Process:
I grouped all of the artsy layers from the template together, except for the top photo mask, and clipped my background photo to the combined layers, using a miscellaneous brush to give more fill and definition. To add more red to the background, I used the different layers from the artsy transfer, changing some of the layers to the color I picked from the woodpecker's head.

Journaling reads: I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the red-bellied woodpeckers enjoying themselves at my feeders this winter. They not only are hanging out at the suet feeder, but the bird seed feeders, too! And I have been able to get clear pictures of both the male and female. The female looks as though she has a receding hairline!

Life After 50

Journaling reads: Mark and I love spending time with Ilene. She may be 15 years older than me, but, as Mark says, "age is just a number!" We have a wonderful time sharing a meal together and playing games or working on puzzles.

Birds of a Feather

Beautiful Winter

Journaling reads:  I captured pictures of a pair of Downy Wood peckers around the bird feeders today.  I didn’t realize I had taken pictures of a male and female.  The male is in the tree and is smaller than the male that is on the suet feeder.

Birds of a Feather

Journaling reads:  Lots of birds walking on top of the icy snow underneath the bird feeders.  They scurried here and there for the tiny morsels that fell to the ground from the feeders.  They were fun to watch, but it was so cold that I could not watch for long!

For the Birds

For the Birds

Journaling reads:  I made my own suet cakes for the birds.  The chickadees are my most frequent visitors.

I removed portions of the string holding up the bird feeder and the string of the heart on the fence to make them look like they were wrapped around the tree branch and fence.

Cherish Every Moment

Journaling reads:  The snow finally arrived in West Virginia!  So my youngest son and his daughter had some snowball fun.  Addy made her snowball and then tossed it at her dad.  But, as dad’s snowball flew at her, Addy’s snowball disintegrated before it found its mark.

I used one of the Artsy Transfers as a photo mask for the larger photo.  I changed the hue and saturation on the background texture to match her coat.

Journaling reads:  At church Ellie said her ears were cold so she needed her "new thang".  Backstory:  I knitted the ear-warmers for myself.  However, they were too small, so I decided they would probably fit Ellie perfectly!  She opened them at church today.  1-2-22

Font Challenge

Hi!  My name is Vicky and I'm a fontaholic!

I like the font challenge because it forces me to search through the hundreds and hundreds of fonts I have.  I am bad about using the same ones over and over and over again!

You can find out more about the Font Challenge #5 here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/january-challenge-5-font-challenge.34686/

Journaling reads: Ilene and I began work on one of the puzzles she got for Christmas. It took us all afternoon just to get the border in place! Even at that, we still have a few pieces that are missing or not in the right place!

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Since we got our first snow of 2022 on Monday, I did a scrapbook page in remembrance of the event!  I'm so glad, for the most part, that when it snows in NC it is usually gone by the next day!  Yesterday, however, it was gone the same day as soon as the sun came out, except for the little patches that were in the shadows!

Done for the January 2022 Big Photo Challenge #4

Journaling reads:  The temperature dropped steadily through the night as the winter storm blew into our area with gusty winds.  It began as rain which turned to sleet and before long turned into BIG, fluffy white flakes of snow that covered the ground.  But when all was said and done for the first snow of the year, the sun came out and it was gone as quickly as it came, as is the case with most snows in NC.

I used a paper from the kit by NLD Designs for the background.  I also used an overlay from the kit as the photo mask.  I used 2 overlays by Palvinka designs for the upper right and lower left corners.  I used 2 of the painted brushes by et designs for the upper left and lower right corners.  I laid the white frame from the kit by NLD Designs over the top and then added my journaling using the Arial Narrow font.

Border Challenge #2 https://oscraps.com/community/threads/january-challenge-2-borders.34581/

Done for the January 2022 Border Challenge
Journaling reads: Last year Mark and I read a devotion and a few verses in reference to the devotion every evening. This year we are listening to Chronological readings and using a study guide to answer some questions about the portions of scripture we heard to step our Bible study time up a notch. Can we do it? YES, we can!
