Attitude of Gratitude Days 2-5

Attitude of Gratitude Day 2 – A Sweet Smelling Savor

Journaling reads:  Today's prompt is "a smell."  The first thing I thought of was the smell of coffee brewing, but I forgot to capture a picture.

But, then, at church tonight I thought of the "sweet smelling savour" that the Lord takes pleasure in.  The first mention of the word, "savour" is found in Genesis 8:21 after God caused the rain to stop and the flood waters to abate and the Ark came to rest on Mt. Ararat, Noah offered a sacrifice unto the Lord....."And the Lord smelled a sweet savour....."  John Gill's commentary on this says, "he (the Lord) was delighted and well pleased with his (Noah's) sacrifice, which was offered up in the faith of the sacrifice of Christ; the apostle says, "is for a sweetsmelling savour," (Ephesians 5:2 - "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.") referring to this passage; that being a satisfaction to the justice of God, an appeasing of his wrath, and a propitiation for the sins of men."

So, today I am thankful for the freedom to attend church where I can worship with fellow believers, sing praises, and pray and receive instruction from God's word as Bobby preaches.  I believe this pleases God, which is a sweet smelling savor (scent) to Him!

Journaling reads:  I picked Carolyn up on the way to Ilene's.  She hopped in the car and we went to our usual spot, Randy's, over in Welcome.  We all ordered breakfast.  From there we went to Food Lion because Ilene needed a few groceries.  Then to Dollar General for flavored drink mix.  The last stop before heading back to Ilene's was for gas.  I think the car holds 17 gallons.  The gas pump cut off at 16.426 gallons!  While at Ilene's we played several games of Qwirkle.  It was probably 6:20 when Carolyn and I left Ilene's and I dropped Carolyn home on my way home.  We always have a wonderful time together!  It was a beautiful day today!  High temp in the low 70's.  Beautiful sky!  Very nice!  11/3/2022

Attitude of Gratitude Day 4 – Food

Done for the Multiphoto Challenge #4 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/november-challenge-4-multi-photo.36386/

Journaling reads:  Today’s prompt is a food.

We went to Ilene’s tonight for supper and to play games. She had a new recipe that she wanted us to try. It was pretty good!

Food. We need food for our body to stay healthy. But even more important than food for our body is the food we feed our soul from the word of God, the Bible! Jesus is the food for eternal life. Belief in Him is the digestive process. Or maybe belief is the swallowing and as we learn more and more we are digesting! Bad analogy, perhaps??  Not sure!

Matthew 4:4 (ESV) But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Matthew 5:6 (ESV) “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

John 6:27 (ESV) Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.”

John 6:35 (ESV) Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

John 6:48 (ESV) I am the bread of life.

The life spoken of in these verses is not our physical life, but eternal life.

Physical food:

I’m not sure what the name of the recipe is that Ilene fixed for us tonight, but it was pretty good! The ingredients were: Baked potatoes, Steak-ums, peppers, onions, mushrooms, shredded cheese and sour cream. For 5 potatoes (she used golden) she added the meat to a skillet with soy sauce. The peppers, onions, mushrooms were sliced and sauteed in butter with Creole seasoning. The baked potatoes were cut open long ways and then sliced a couple of times cross ways and butter added. Next the veggies were added to the potatoes. Then the meat and cheese (she used cheddar and mozzarella). Then the sour cream and whatever else you think you might want.  11/4/22

Attitude of Gratitude Day 5 – Season

Done for the November Word Art Challenge #7 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/november-challenge-7-word-art.36503/#post-644773

Journaling reads:  Today’s prompt is a season.

My favorite season is Autumn! I am thankful for the colors the Lord paints across the landscape during this season. I am thankful for the no-longer-hot-not-yet-freezing temperatures of fall. I am thankful for the light jacket season. I am thankful for the Thanksgiving holiday of the season. I am thankful that I live where the change of seasons is evident.

Genesis 8:22 (ESV)  While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.

Psalm 104:19 (ESV) He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows it’s time for setting.

Genesis 1:14 (ESV) And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years,

Daniel 2:21 (ESV) He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;

Thank You, Lord, for the beauty of Autumn!  11/5/22
