Color Palette Challenge #1 and Monthly Reviews

This Storm

Done for the Color Palette Challenge #1 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/november-challenge-1-color-palette.38593/

Journaling reads:  Storms don’t just happen outside.  This storm began inside on a gym floor in the recreation center while my son was teaching me how to play pickleball, “the old people’s tennis”, lol!  I was enjoying myself until I backed up to return the ball and my shoe grabbed the floor and threw me down!  The result was a broken wrist and an L1 compression fracture in my back.  I’m thankful it is a storm I can weather with the Lord’s help.  From where does my help come?   Psalm 121:2 ”My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”  Thank You, Lord!   10/21/23

September Monthly Review

Journaling Left:  The weather was to be beautiful for the Labor Day weekend, so we invited Sharon and Calvin, Joy and Bobby to join us for a hotdog roast.

We met at 5:00 on Saturday, September 2nd.   We kept the menu simple:  hotdogs, brats, Cole slaw, baked beans, chips, soft drinks, desserts.  Mark had us “wired for sound” so we played Christian music as we talked the night away.  We closed out the evening by watching the Starlink Satellites move across our skies and then we cleaned up and everyone went home.  It was a great evening of food and fellowship!

“Elon Musk’s SpaceX company has been launching thousands of satellites into orbit.  Many people say they’ve seen them in the skies.  They’re part of the Starlink project, which aims to provide high speed internet services from space, to remote areas on Earth.  ‘There are people in the UK in that category, but more across the world, in places like Africa,’ says Dr. Lucinda King, Space Projects Manager at the University of Portsmouth.  Starlink’s satellites have been put in orbit around the Earth to make connection speeds between the satellites and the ground as fast as possible.” ~bbc dot com

There’s nothing as relaxing as sitting around a fire pit in the evening in good conversation with wonderful friends and Christian music playing in the background!

Lordy, Lordy!  My 3rd child turned 40!  Brad threw a surprise birthday party for Elisabeth…..but she was suspect all week!  It was great to have her big sister come to town for the surprise!  9/9/23

Journaling right:  September is the time set aside for the Widows’ Retreat at the Statesville Bible Camp in the beautiful hills of Boone, NC.  It is sponsored by Damascus Baptist Church.  I took Ilene on Monday and returned for her on Friday.  We stopped at Olive Garden in Wilkesboro on the way there.  9/11 - 9/15. Ilene enjoying conversation with one of the other widows on Monday afternoon.

Noah asked us to come and see him at his new job in Winston.

Mark felt water drip on him in the basement.  He looked up and saw the soaked floor boards under the bathtub.  After a painstaking search he found the shower faucet leaking.

Mark wanted to sit by a fire down at the pits.  I told him I would go with him.  It was a bit cool but was a delightful evening.  I took my knitting.  9/29/23

Journaling left:  Trees on the beautiful drive to Alabama 10/19/23

Abby in outfield on 10/5/23

Bobby wanted to take a ride and we met him at Sheetz then rode to Thomasville for ice cream.  At the end of the day, we enjoyed some time at the fire pit and I did some knitting. 10/6/23

Mark took me to Ruby Tuesday for my birthday supper and then to dairi-O.  10/8/23

More and More tomatoes!  I think the plants are indestructible!  10/10/23

The cool weather brought on the changing colors of the leaves.  I love Fall!  10/13/23

Journaling right:  October takes us to the leaders conference sponsored by Shepherds Church in Cary, NC.  Bro. Dale is the one who first told Tim and me about the conference.  Mark enjoys it now!

There are 5 couples, including Mark and I, who attend (pictured left):  Terri and David Morris, Dale and Juanita Wallace (unfortunately, Juanita couldn’t come this year), Bobby and Joy Smith.

Pictured below, left to right:  Diane and Ken Hansard, Joy and Bobby Smith, Mark and me.  We try to gather and eat supper together where we can enjoy a time of fellowship.  It is a wonderfully busy couple of days.  10/16 - 10/18/23

Tree photo taken on our trip home from Alabama Monday, 10/23/23

We spent several days in Alabama with my son, Michael and DIL, Jessica.  We always have a great visit with them, broken bodies and all!  I broke my wrist and got an L1 compression fracture as souvenirs!

We have a hawk that hangs out in our backyard.  I’m not sure what critter(s) it is keeping an eye on.  It might be the neighbor’s chickens.  10/25/23
