July 2022 Challenges

I decided to do just one post to include my participation in the July 2022 Challenges at OScraps.  And there are a few miscellaneous pages that include miscellaneous activities through the month so far.  It has been a busy month and just barely half over!   Clicking on the titles will take you to the layout in my gallery at OScraps.

The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Done for the Lyrics/Poems Challenge #2 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/july-challenge-2-lyrics-poems.35747/

When I googled “nonsense lyrics” the song, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” was one of the songs that came up.  I’ve always liked that song, so decided to go with it!  I found my image on Pixabay of a sleeping lion.  I blended the image into Xuxper’s background paper using Lighten blending mode.  On top of the image I filled the background with the nonsense lyrics from the song and blended it into the image using Soft Light blend mode.  Then added the nonsense lyrics on the top layer in a larger size in bold and the sensable lyrics in a smaller size.

Sunset

Done for the July 2022 Artist Inspiration Challenge #4 found here: https://oscraps.com/community/threads/july-challenge-4-artist-inspiration.35807/
The inspiration came from the colors in the clouds shown in the second example painting in the challenge forum. Just this week I took this photo in our backyard as the sunset gave the clouds such a beautiful coloring!

Floating Tiki Hut

Done for the July 2022 Occasions & Themes Challenge #5 found here: https://oscraps.com/community/threads/july-challenge-5-occasions-themes.35799/

Journaling reads: This tiki hut floated by the wedding cruise and the way they jovially waved, yelled, and laughed at us as we passed by, I'm pretty sure they were already four sheets to the wind.

I deleted the frames for 2 pictures from the template I used. I grouped all of the stains, paints, splats, art strokes, etc., together and used it as my photomask. Then I added a background paper and textures and transfers and overlays and the elements. I created the title and added a wave to it with a drop shadow.

Beautiful Blue Jay

Done for the July 2022 Copy Cat Challenge #6 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/july-challenge-6-copycat.35716/

The inspiration for our pages is coming from Hildy’s gallery here:  https://oscraps.com/community/media/users/hildy.38690/  and I used her page, Challenge 10 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/media/challenge-10.346582/ . I was inspired by the simplicity of the page with just a border and round photo with the title going around the photo.

Sky View

Journaling reads:
Very good in the grass to lie
And see the network 'gainst the sky,
A living lace of blue and green,
And boughs that let the gold between.

Goldwing

My husband and I have a Goldwing motorcycle. I've never been able to find a motorcycle-related digital kit to use to scrap our photos. I asked Anna Aspnes if she could make something. I sent her some photos of our bike and she came up with these brushes! Thanks so much, Anna! I added a chrome style to the goldwing brush shown above the photo of the heron. I also used one of the transfers included with the template as the photomask, filling it in somewhat to see the shadow photo better.

Journaling reads:
Tuesday, June 21, 2022
The weather was so pleasant that we decided to take a bike ride. We stopped at Subway for some sandwiches and went to Thom-A-Lex park. We were surprised not more people were there, especially since school was out for the summer. I suppose it was because of the hour. By the time we finished eating more people were coming with their fishing poles and their kids. The herons I have photographed here usually do not hang around for long, but this big guy did not budge the whole time we were there. Beautiful afternoon for a ride!
