Border Challenge

Time to Remember

#4 Border Challenge found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/november-challenge-4-border-only.40695/

Journaling reads:  My Grandpa Willie Brandenburg with his work horses on their farm in 1951.  I did not get to meet him because he passed away on July 4th, 3 months before I was born on October 8, 1955.  My dad looked just like Grandpa Willie!  I would love to have known him.

Artist Inspiration Challenge

Nature At It’s Best

#3 Artist Inspiration found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/november-challenge-3-artist-inspiration.40749/

My inspiration was the landscape painting, Wheat Field with Cypress.  I used Deep Dream Generator on my photo.

Journaling reads:  When we visit my son in Alabama we enjoy the view of the lake from his front porch. I took several pictures, but they were lost in the move from the camera to the EHD.  My son had taken this photo and shared it with me.  October 2024

New Challenges and ATCs

I cannot believe how quickly this year has passed!  But, here we are in November already!  And with the new month comes new challenges at OScraps!  You can find all of the challenges for the month HERE.

I've only done a couple of the challenges so far.  I've mostly been working on my 26th ATC collection.  It is so easy to get behind on those that I am trying my best to keep them done every day since we are entering the holiday seasons and a very busy time of the year!

Here is Collection 26 of the ATCs.  Each word is taken from the daily devotional I am reading this year, One Good Word a Day, which features devotions written by Julie Fisk, Kendra Roehl, and Kristin Demery.

Intercede

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people.  Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.  1 Timothy 2:1  October 29, 2024

Reclaim

You are the light of the world.  A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Matthew 5:14  October 31, 2024

Halloween should be a fun time for children, not creepy, gory and scary!  I love that churches have started doing Trunk or Treat for their children and neighborhood children!  “As Christians, we can discern and decide what from our culture should get reclaimed and what needs to be let go of….Halloween….is….a great way for us to connect with those around us….to build relationships with the people in our neighborhood.  We get to shine the light of Jesus on what can be a particularly dark night.  We need to remember that we are the light on the hill and that when we shine, others will be drawn into God’s love.”
“Lord, help us to be wise as we engage our culture.  Give us discernment to know what can be reclaimed for your glory.  May we each be a light to the world, so that others will know your love.  Amen.” ~Kendra Roehl, One Word a Day

Gospel

The Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.  He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.  Isaiah 61:1  11/1/24

I blended 3 papers together, one from each of the 3 designers listed below.  I tried to stretch Natali’s paper with the crease to make the crease look like a cross, but the effect got lost in the journaling, etc.

Boundaries

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.  Proverbs 4:23  11/3/24

“Lord, show us where our boundaries ae faulty and will not hold up to a crash test.  Help us shore up our weak spots with strongly built guardrails.  Amen”  ~Julie Fisk

Wanted

May you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.  Ephesians 3:18  11/4/24

“So many things can happen to us in life that can make us wonder if we are wanted.  We can all experience times when our hearts cry out, Lord, am I wanted?  Am I loved?  And it’s in those moments that He gently reminds us that He does love us.  Apart from where we came from, what we do, who we are, what titles we have or hats we wear.  He wants us.  Just as we are.”  ~Kendra Roehl, One Good Word a Day

Overflow

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him.  Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 15:13  11/5/24

Observe

In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.  Matthew 7:12  11/6/24

“Heavenly Father, give us eyes to see and ears to hear past facades and camouflage to the heart of the matter.  May we be observant as we encounter those You love.  Amen.”  ~Julie Fisk

Accomplishment

Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  A second is equally important:  Love your neighbor as yourself.”  Matthew 22:37-39  October 21, 2024

“When we understand that Matthew 22:37-39 is our life’s mission, we measure accomplishment by God’s standard - by investing in people and relationships in our homes, our neighborhoods, our communities.  We become world changers right where God has planted us, living ordinary, extraordinary lives.”  ~Julie Fisk, One Good Word a Day

Assistance

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.  If one person falls, the other can reach out and help.  But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.  Ecclesiastes 4:9, 10  October 22, 2024

She's All That by Fiddlette Designs

Honor

We ask God to give you…spiritual wisdom and understanding.  Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit.  Colossians 1:9, 10  October 23, 2024

Provision

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.  Psalm 23:1  October 24, 2024

Relinquish

For who can know the Lord’s thoughts?  Who knows enough to give Him advice?  Romans 11:34  October 25, 2024

Sometimes I think, without really meaning to, that I try to control God by praying for “things” without asking, “Thy will be done.”  I need to always remember to relinquish my control to His sovereign control.  After all, the God Who created the universe all things and is watching over all His creation knows what is best for me!

Dare to Dream by Lynne Anzelc

Direction

The Lord directs the steps of the godly.  He delights in every detail of their lives.  Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.  Psalm 37:23, 24  October 26, 2024

"We may run, walk, stumble, drive, or fly, but let us never lose sight of the reason for the journey, or miss a chance to see a rainbow on the way. " - Gloria Gaither

Pause

Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.  Proverbs 18:2  October 27, 2024

“Lord, remind us to prayerfully pause when invited to be outraged, especially by political parties or those with an agenda.  Give us discernment, remembering to be centered in Christ.  Amen.” ~Julie Fisk

Left

We left the house at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 17th.  Since I-40 was closed from the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene in September we had to find a new route to take.  We decided to take I-85 south to the bypass around Atlanta, I-285, hoping to miss Atlanta traffic.  Unfortunately, that didn’t help at all!  So, on the way home on the 21st we traveled 411 to 20 to I-85 north near Lavonia, GA.  It didn’t really save us any time, but it certainly saved on the stress level.

We arrived at Michael and Jessica’s at 5:42 CST (6:42 EST).  That would be an 8 3/4 hours trip, including stops for gas and food and bathrooms.  We stayed in for the evening.

On Friday, we went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel and then headed to Guntersville Dam to take pictures.  There was a nice park next to the water.  While taking pictures and walking through the park, I tripped on a tree root and fell.  I thought I had broken my right wrist so we went to Marshall Medical Center for X-rays.  No broken bones, but I was very sore in my ribs and arm on the left side plus my right wrist.  I iced it throughout the week- end.

Friday evening we went to Fire by the Lake restaurant where we met Jessica’s mom, Joann and Caleb, her grandson.

On Saturday afternoon we took the dogs for their afternoon walk.

Right

Sunday we all stayed home and listened to Bobby’s message and then met Joann at Julia’s Mexican Restaurant for lunch.

In the afternoon Michael and I walked the dogs.  Mark had to lay down with a headache.

We played lots of Rummikub in the afternoon and evenings.

On Monday we got up early to begin the trip back home.  Jessica had to take Caleb to day care, so we didn’t get a farewell picture with her.  We were on the road by 7:15 (8:15 our time).  We arrived home at almost 5:30.

Another great trip and time spent with Michael and Jessica!
