Last Challenge for October

This month sure flew by!

Embrace Your Blessing

Done for the Artsy/Mixed Media Challenge #7 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/october-challenge-7-mixed-media.38405/

Journaling reads:  Well, what started out as a fun day of learning how to play pickleball turned into a painful experience when my rubber-soled sneakers grabbed that gym floor and tripped me as I backed up to hit the ball.  The floor came up to catch me as I fell backwards, breaking my left wrist and giving me an L1 compression fracture.  Even though my head bounced off the floor I didn’t have a concussion.  While it was and is a painful experience, it could have been so much worse!  Time for healing.  I plan to try it again.....after I heal!  10/21/23

Color Play Challenge

Autumn Tomatoes

Done for the Color Play Challenge found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/october-challenge-6-color-play.38416/

Journaling reads:  I am amazed that we still have an abundance of tomatoes in all stages of growth.  We have blooms, green, yellow and red tomatoes.  The grasshoppers are really enjoying their long harvest!  The plants are (finally) beginning to die out, however.  Thank You, LORD, for the abundant harvest!       10/10/23

Poetry/Lyrics Challenge

Qué será, será

Done for the Poetry/Lyrics Challenge #5 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/october-challenge-5-poems-lyrics.38298/

Journaling reads:  Today I turned 68.  Mark took me to Ruby Tuesday for lunch after church.  It is one of our favorite places to eat.  He had a sirloin and baked potato and I had the deconstructed kabob (beef tips, peppers, onions on a bed of rice).  Both meals were very good!  Thank you, sweetie!

When I look back on my 68 years of life, it has not turned out the way I expected and I am OK with that!  There have been ups and downs, joys and sorrows.....the typical things that happen in life.  Have I liked everything that has happened to me over the years?  Who can answer yes to that question?  Not me, and probably not anyone.  But, I know one thing for certain.....God loves me and is working ALL things for my good and His glory!  What more could I ask?   Thank You, LORD, for your blessings on my life!               10/8/23

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”  Jeremiah 29:11.    What will be will be!

Today

Journaling reads:  It was such a beautiful day so we rode the bike to  Digestive Health in Kernersville for a consultation with the doctor.  After it was determined Mark would need to have a colonoscopy and endoscopy, we made the necessary appointment and then stopped for a late lunch at Cracker Barrel on the way home.       9/19/23

Everyday Love

Journaling reads:  It has been a busy week.  Besides the normal, daily activities, we had doctor appointments added to the schedules.

On Monday, one of our friends is now home - bound, so Ilene and I visited her for a couple  of hours on Monday.  My doctor appointment for later in the day had been canceled so Ilene and I went to lunch after our visit with Carolyn.

On Tuesday Mark’s doctor appointment for a consultation with Digestive Health was in the afternoon.  Afterwards we went to Cracker Barrel for a late lunch.

On Wednesday’s we have church in the evening.

On Thursday I picked Mark up from work and we went to Mama Mia’s for lunch.  After work Mark took the car to the shop to change the rotors.  He had already changed the brakes.

On Friday I was not feeling great so Mark got food from Subway.

On Saturday I worked around the house in the morning so I could sit with Carolyn from 1 - 4.  It was a rainy day.  Mark had gone to the woods in the morning before the rain began.  Then he watched races and football on the TV.

On Sunday we go to morning services at church.

The Fairy Dance

Done for the Fantasy/Story Book Challenge #3 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/october-challenge-3-storybook-fantasy.38376/#post-678643

Journaling reads:

The Fairy Dance

The soft stars are shining,

The moon is alight;

The fold of the forest

Are dancing tonight:

O swift and gay

Is the song that they sing;

They float and sway

As they dance in a ring.

O seek not to find them,

The wee fold so fair;

They’re shy as the swallow

And swift as the air:

If you come, they are gone

Like a snowflake in May;

Like a breath, like a sigh,

They vanish away.

Still Blooming!

Done for the Template Challenge #4 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/october-challenge-4-template.38436/ using the Free With $15 Purchase, brand new OScraps Designer Collaboration.

Journaling reads:   I received this begonia from my daughter, Elisabeth, for Mother’s Day.  I am amazed that it is still blooming!  It has been sitting on the deck all summer.  I watered it maybe once a week or so, so I’m surprised that it has lived as long as it has!  9/28/23

Beautiful Blooms

Journaling reads:  We went to Jenifer’s house to let Axle out to potty.  While Mark took care of that, I walked back up the lane to get pictures of the beautiful yellow flowers.  I was  pleasantly surprised to see all of the bees flying from flower to flower!  I got Mark to get off the bike when he came back up the lane to pick me up and I got a picture of us with the beautiful blooms between us!   9/16/23

Beauty Amidst Color

Journaling reads:  While riding behind Mark on the bike I have my camera at the ready for capturing whatever sparks my interest as we travel.  Tonight’s ride was a study in the clouds.  I love the different shapes and shades they form.  I love the different colors the sun brings to light as it sets lower and lower in the sky!  Every sky is different!  Every sky is amazing.  Every sky is a masterpiece painted by God!   9/16/23

Happy Ending

Journaling reads:  On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Mark had an appointment with the Digestive Health people.  The weather was beautiful, so we decided to ride the bike.  It was determined that Mark needed to have a colonoscopy and also an endoscopy to see what was causing the blood.  After the procedure appointment was made, we left and stopped at Cracker Barrel for a late lunch before heading home.  It was later determined that the cause of the blood was ulcers in his stomach which is being treated with Omeprazole.  Mark has to stay away from aspirin products.  So thankful it was not worse!

Sunday Morning Ride

Journaling reads:  With temperatures expected in the 70’s today and a mix of clouds and sun, it was a perfect day to ride to church!  I always have my camera with me, just in case.  Today’s views were not unusual.  However, I did capture a bird flying over the church that I did not notice when I snapped the picture as we pulled into the parking lot.  The yellow flowers were at the corner of 109 and Gum Tree and I loved the old barn against the backdrop of fluffy clouds!      9/24/23

Sunshine and Shadows

Journaling reads:  I like to take shadow pictures of Mark and I on the bike.  Today the sun was shining so nice and brightly that I took several.

Mark wanted a good steak after his colonoscopy procedure on the 27th but we ended up at Arby’s instead.  But, the taste for steak was still there, so we decided to try a place not too far away and a restaurant we had not tried before.  I’m not a steak eater most of the time.  And most steak places serve chicken, so I had a chicken sandwich while Mark had a “delicious” steak!  We enjoyed the croissant rolls with cinnamon honey butter, too!   We were pleased with the meal!  I’m sure we will eat there again sometime!   9/28/23
