Journaling reads:  Our annual family gathering at the end of May ends with worship together.

Anna Aspnes Color Challenge

Journaling reads: The Sweet Williams, on the left, came back from last year. I was surprised since I left the basket hanging out all winter long. The Marigolds, on the right, are new this year. I got them from my granddaughter, Kayden. The kids were raising flowers and vegetables from seed to sell. I didn't really want them but since it was a school project, I got them. Love their bright yellow faces!

I grouped all of the paint, stain and texture elements together from the template and used that as my photomask.  I also moved the template photos around.

Journaling reads:  Spring cleaning this year involved ripping off the old plastic, removing the screens, removing the curtains, then washing the screens and curtains and windows and putting everything back together.  No more plastic, however!  We wanted to be able to open the windows!  Mark did not want me to climb on the ladder, so he washed the windows I couldn’t reach!

Life Filled with Joy

Journaling reads:  Roasting hot dogs at our fire pit in the woods is a sign of spring and time to gather with family and friends! 

I used a brush duplicated several times for the photo mask.  I duplicated the string elements and layered one behind the branch and one in front of the branch and then erased parts of the top one to give it the appearance of going behind the branch.

Here's my page for the Art Journaling Challenge #4

I began with a solid black background, and then I used a photo of mine of dogwood blossoms processed in Deep Dream Generator for part of the background texture and reduced the opacity of the photo. Then I blended 2 other papers of Vicki’s to finish the background. From there I just added paint, marks and other elements, some of them being filled with white or black.

I used 5 different papers from the mini kit.  I used the Darker and Linear Burn blending modes on my papers.  I also used a photo mask with the postcard element in the kit to give a layer of text behind the photo.

Journaling reads:  This wood sorrel is probably considered a weed to most people, but I absolutely love them!  They come up every year right at the base of the house.  Mark does not bother them with the weedeater, and I’m so glad!  What started out as a little clump a few years ago has grown every year!  I am so thankful for the beauty I see even in the curse of weeds on the earth.  It is just another example of how gracious and merciful our great God is!  Thank You, LORD!

 For the background, I layered papers 2, 6, and 8 (using soft light blend mode on each) on top of paper 10 from the Botanical Mix collection to tone down the bold color of paper 10.  From there I added butterfly stamps from Inky Flutter Brushes and Stamps, using various blend modes.  I also added snippets and brushes from No Big Deal, using blend mode of soft light on the brushes.  The photo mask came from Added Interest Brushes and Masks.  I also added a paint element behind the photo to add some more blue to the background and other elements from the Botanical Mix collection.

Another Lovely Story
