Day 9

Today’s Adventures

Today’s adventures, 12/9/25:

Up at 7:30.  Check email and clean it up.  I don’t like for there to be more than 25 in the inbox which includes orders I’m waiting on, OScraps items that need my attention, restaurant deals...stuff like that.  I always read the daily Almanac email to see if there is a quote I might be able to use in my scrapping.  The OScraps links are the last thing I deal with because they tend to lead me down the proverbial rabbit hole!  I’m hosting one of the challenges on the site this month, so I need to pay attention for pages that have been added so I can comment on them and write their name down for prizes that will be handed out at the end of the month.

There is always miscellaneous stuff for me to take care of as treasurer for the church, too.  Today was no exception.  I also started thinking of Christmas gifts to send to the grands who live at the beach and contacted their mom for ideas and got that taken care of.  That required a call to Mark to watch for a verification code to allow me to access Amazon.  So we also made plans for lunch.  Bob, Mark’s co-worker went with us.  We ate at Rancho’s.  After I dropped them back off at work, I headed to High Point to Walmart to look for a 24x30 poster frame for the State Birds and Flowers puzzle that Ilene and I completed.  Walmart!  The place I love to hate!  Of course they didn’t have the frame I wanted so I left and headed home.  I needed gas and the last time I got gas at Walmart it was $2.69, but not so today!  $2.89!  I was pretty sure I had seen it cheaper at Kelly 109, so I decided to chance it.  YES!  $2.69/gallon!

At home I couldn’t even order the frame from Walmart so I could pick it up in High Point!  I was going to have to go to Winston to pick it up!  I’ll try Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, or Staples first!

Tonight is leftovers!

Day 10

Cold Days

Say hello to bed-head and tired boy! I was awake at 4:30 this morning! So when Mark got up at 5:30 for work, I got up. Today was a long day but I kept busy, so it was OK!

I had planned to go to some stores, probably Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Staples/Office Depot, Walmart in Winston, maybe. I was on the hunt for a 24x30 frame for the latest puzzle Ilene and I put together of the State birds and flowers. It will eventually be hung in the cabin.

Mark and I went to lunch at Amigos Mexican restaurant. We split the lunch-sized Chicken ACP and still had leftovers that Mark too back to work with him. He will probably eat the rest of it this afternoon.

I got this cactus cutting from Ilene earlier this year. It had broken off from her plant and I brought it home and stuck it in water. It has been there all year and looks like it is going to give me some blooms even with the poor, not-so-tender-loving-care it has endured! The water is so thick and green that Mark said, “it is turning into dirt!”

Temps are supposed to reach near 50 today! That is a heatwave compared to the last several days! I’ll take it! Especially since I will be out in it this afternoon!

I ended up going to the Walmart on Peters Creek and found the frame I wanted. I also got a small jar of Mod Podge and some foam brushes. Glad I didn’t have to trek all over Winston for the frame!  12/10/25

Day 11

Revel in Happy Times

I decided I was in the mood for some veggie soup today.  By the time I added the ingredients I had a huge quantity!  I mistakenly put the wrong spices in it, but the spices for the vegetarian chili recipe will work just as well as the spices for the 6-hour stew recipe.  That’s just not the flavor I had in mind when I decided to make the soup.  I’ll make some corn- bread to go along with the soup for supper tonight.  Michael will help us eat it when he comes over this weekend.

After putting the soup together, I noticed the beauty of the sun breaking into the tops of the trees in the backyard!  God’s masterpieces are the best!  It is a beautiful day but very breezy which makes it feel much colder than 45, which is supposed to be the high!

I laid the puzzle of the state birds and flowers on the backing to the 24x30 frame I got at Walmart yesterday and put the layer of Mod-Podge on it.  I will touch up any spots as needed.  The instructions say to wait 4 weeks but I won’t be doing that, for sure!  12/11/25

Mark likes to get away from the shop and have lunch with me.  Today we shared a Mamma Mia’s Chicken Philly Combo with an extra drink.  Sharing is easier on the budget and more so on our stomachs!

Day 12

The Life

We had a snow shower today that actually collected on the roof of the out- buildings. But, the snow was heavy and wet and did not last long.

I worked on the computer today for most of the day. Mark worked until 2 p.m. He took Piper to the woods. When he came back, he took his shower and we worked on our evening devotions with Stephen Davey.

I changed into my lounging PJs this morning because the pants are nice and warm! But I still wore a housecoat all day. Trying to get rid of this headache I’ve had all day. Might be an early bedtime for me.  12/12/25

Day 13

Sunshine

Saturday and no plans other than Mark spending the day with Michael. I had to go to Ilene’s and water her flowers and take her mail in from the box at the road. Afterwards I went to Food Lion to get a few things. While in the car, I like to listen to audiobooks. This week I have been listening to the Pelican Harbor series by Colleen Coble, and murder and mystery series. She writes Christian fiction. The weather started out very cold this morning but will warm up to 50 before heading back down. My corner of the bedroom where I work on the computer. 12/13/25

Day 14

Thyme to Relax

Sunday afternoons are pretty chill after we get home from church around 1:15-1:30.  Sometimes we order lunch but today I wanted to eat the leftover soup from last week and fix a pan of cornbread to go with it.  The rest of the day is spent doing miscellaneous things.  Mark will watch sports while I do laundry, or scrapbook, or work on the church deposit.  Usually it is a combination of all of those things.  Sometimes none of those things get done except scrapbooking.  And sometimes I have my computer in the living room in front of the TV with Mark.  It is our day of rest and relaxation.  12/14/25
