September Color Play

On Sale through the weekend HERE.

September Color Play Pages

This

Journaling reads:  The temperatures have been so hot this summer that we just did not ride as much as we would have liked.  So now that the sun has begun it’s fall rotation and the temperatures have cooled we ride!  And it doesn’t even have to be a very long or far away destination!  Our reason for this trip was ice cream!    Dairi-O in Thomasville is a 17 minute trip by car.  But, what fun is that!  We took the long way around through Welcome > US64 > NC109 > Dairi-O!  Hi Ho!  Hi Ho!  We LOVE Dairi-O!  September 15, 2023

Observe

This is the companion page to “This”

Journaling reads:  Anyone who spends much time with me at all will soon realize that I am not the most observant person in the world.  And I know that I miss a lot of details because of it.  So, sometimes I do my best to focus on my surroundings.  It is easier for me to do that while I’m riding in the “back seat” of the Goldwing while Mark drives.  As we traveled the highways and byways to get ice cream I made some observations.  These are a few of the things I paid attention to, among other things not shown here:  one lonely, beautiful pink blossom along the side of the road, barely visible for the rest of the plants surrounding it; following a school bus cautiously crossing the railroad tracks;  thinking of my dad when I see a cemetery and in my mind hearing him say, “people are just dying to get in there”, and thinking how much I miss that dear man; looking skyward and noticing how high the cell tower climbs into the beautiful blue sky, as if it is trying to reach the sun.  I observed these things and more today on our bike ride to get ice cream.  Thank You, Lord, for helping me to be observant today!  9/15/23

September Rainbow and More

Moments Captured

Journaling reads:  Mark worked all day on cutting wood that he had milled from trees he cut down to sawmill size.  All that is left to do is build the handrails.  9/16/23

Fall Colors

Journaling reads:  Our fall colors do not come alive until October, usually.  There are a few trees that start changing colors and dropping leaves early September but they are few and far between.  However, the leaves may begin changing in September in the mountains here in NC.

Quote reads:

September strews the woodlot o'er with many a brilliant color;

The world is brighter than before, why should our hearts be duller?

Poem reads:

When maple turns copper

And sky tangerine

Sighs again a dandelion

In every skip of a summer dream

While seasons keep unfolding

Without a sideways glance

Did you heart the rainbow?

For there may not be a second chance

If I Could Hear My Mother Pray Again

(as sung by The New Tradition on their Bluegrass Gospel CD)

Since my husband was a pastor, I used to travel by myself to visit my daughters or stay with the grandchildren or pick them up and bring them back home with me.  While traveling I would play various genres of music.  One of those genres was gospel bluegrass.  I remember this song (sung by The New Tradition on their CD, “Bluegrass Gospel at its Finest”, Brentwood Music) in particular always seemed to make me cry.  While mom and I had our differences in my teenaged years I loved her dearly.  I used to say, during those tumultuous teen years, “I’m not raising my kids this way!”  But, guess what?  I raised my kids the same way I was raised…..strictly and God-fearing!  There were no “choose your battles.”  It was basically, “my way or the highway!”  If I had it to do over again, I might decide to “choose my battles.”  But, I have to say, the Lord blessed us with great kids.  While they were not “angels,” they were great kids and have grown to be great, God-fearing moms and dads!  Thank You, LORD!  And, if I could have a do-over with mom, I would treat her with more respect!  I’m sure some of you can relate.

12:42 minutes into the music you can hear this song here:

Lyrics read:

Her work on earth is done, the life-crown has been won,

And she will be at rest with Him above;

And some glad morning she, I know, will welcome me

To that eternal home of peace and love.

Refrain:

If I could (see) my mother pray again,

If I could (see her praying once again)!

So glad I’d be, ’twould mean so much to me,

If I could (see) my mother pray again.

Journaling reads:  I changed the word “hear” to “see” because I never heard my mother pray during her quiet times with the LORD, but I often observed her praying.  The ( ) indicate where I changed the lyrics.  Love and miss you, Mom!

Follow the Path to Soul Firing Stuff

Done for the AnnaLift Challenge found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/annalift-challenge-09-08-23-09-22-23.38311/

Journaling reads:  We love it when the weather allows us to invite our good friends from church to spend time with us around the fire pits in our woods.  Our time together always includes great conversation and good food around the fire!  To get to the camp, we have to follow the path from the back of our yard about a quarter of a mile.  We usually drive because we have lots of food and all of the paraphernalia that goes along with hosting a meal.

More of This

Journaling left:  Mark worked on his sawmill today and as he closed up shop, he asked if I wanted to take a bike ride!  Of course I do!  The weather is perfect!  We rode over to old US 52 through Welcome and then Lexington to take US 64 to NC109 to Thomasville where we stopped at Dairi-O for ice cream.  9-15-23

Journaling right:  Unfortunately, we forgot it was Friday and we ended up having to deal with school bus traffic.    When we got to Dairi-O they had a new ice cream called pumpkin praline pecan, so we both ordered two scoops in a waffle cone!  YUMMY!  It was wonderful!
