Journaling reads: It has been so dreadfully hot this summer that I am dreaming of winter days, and the joy of curling up with a good book and a cup of something warm. Funny how that works! August 2025

My Purpose as a Christian Mom
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (ESV)
Besides the normal motherly responsibilities of caring for my children…..providing for their physical needs of food, shelter, clothing, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment…..and the emotional support of offering comfort, love, and a sense of security…..as a Christian mom I needed to provide Godly training. Training that would aid in spiritual growth was my main purpose as a mom.
While teaching practical skills like hygiene, eating habits, and household chores is necessary for life here on earth, I needed to be sure they were prepared for eternal life. While instilling ethical principles, social responsibility, and respect for others is necessary, those life skills won’t matter when they come to the end of their life and are not prepared for moving into eternal life. Ultimately, I know this is all in God’s sovereign purpose and plan, but it doesn’t excuse me in my responsibility as a Christian mom to do the training I have been commanded to do from God’s word, the Bible.
I’m happy to say that, with God’s help and His correcting the many mistakes I made, my children are happy, productive adults and are living Godly lives. I pray that their dad, who has already graduated to heaven, somehow knows his children are doing well and furthering our Godly training with their own children! Thank You, Lord! August 2025
