September Challenges at OScraps

Click on the links in the descriptions below to join in on these fun challenges!  I have a tendency to do the Monthly Challenges in numerical order and then move on to the Designer Challenges, but I have switched it up a bit this month.   Hope to see YOU in the Gallery!

We Are Family

Done for the September Designer Challenge by Vicki Robinson found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/2023-09-vicki-robinson-september-challenge.38277/

Left side of journal reads:  Some of my most precious possessions are not materialistic in nature but are related to family; time spent with them being the most precious.  But, when I cannot be with them, going through the photos I have brings me great joy and precious memories of days gone by.  And even if I don’t know some of the people in those photos, I love having them.  It gives me a connection to my history.  And if I have a name, it gives me something to research.

Right side of journal:

mom & dad, 12/20/54

Grandma and Grandpa Brandenburg.  Dad is the oldest child in this photo. circa early 1930’s.

Remember

Done for the Heritage Challenge #2 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/september-2023-challenge-2-heritage.38148/

Journaling reads:  Seeing this paper in the kit brought back memories of the vintage wallpaper in the farm house we rented when the kids were small.  Jessica was 5 1/2, Michael was almost 4, Elisabeth was 20 months old and Nathanael was born a couple of months after we moved in late April 1985.

Elisabeth loved playing with dolls, so for her birthday we got her this doll that was almost as big as she was!  She named her doll, Rosa, which was a popular name for dolls in our house.  She soon transferred her love of dolls to a love of all things animal!

It is hard to believe that Elisabeth turns 40 soon!  She has 3 live baby dolls...Hannah, Ryan and Abby, and 3 fur babies...Sally, Hank and Toby.

I See the Moon

Done for the September Week 1 AJ Challenge found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/week-1-september-art-journaling-challenge-the-moon.38251/

This nursery rhyme or bedtime prayer came to mind for this challenge.

Journaling reads:

I see the moon, and the moon sees me,
God bless the moon, and God bless me!

The first recording of the old English nursery rhyme was in 1784. The Gammer Gurton’s Garland, The Nursery Parnassus collection contained just two lines of rhyme. New versions appeared as the song spread around orally. People began to customize the lyrics for their little ones. Some artists also created different variants of the original by adding their own words. ~playtivities dot com
