October 2025 Color Play Is Live!

And here are a (very) few examples of the delicious October 2025 Color Play fall kits that are available at Oscraps!

It’s Fall

I love walking through the fallen leaves on a crisp autumn day.  10/24/25

Credits:

(To the template I clipped stamps and ombre papers to the leaves.  I replaced the flower shapes with elements. I clipped an ombre paper to the top layered paper and the paper strip.  I blended the flower stamp into the top paper layer.  I moved the large title.  I added a few other elements and word art.)

October

Fall is finally here!  Time for fires in the woods, roasting hotdogs and marshmallows, and

enjoying the cooler temps after a loooong, hot summer!  Mark stokes the fire as Piper waits for him to sit down so she can be petted.  10/25/25

When breezes are soft and skies are fair,

I steal an hour from study and care,

And hie me away to the woodland scene,

Where wanders the stream with the waters of green.

Memories

We left Michael and Jessica’s around 4:45 under fairly cloudy skies, but the sun was shining.  An hour later, we found ourselves heading into more stormy weather.  But the hue of the clouds from the sunshine was a sight to behold!  Once we were in Tennessee, we were basically in rain the rest of the trip home.  I believe I took this picture in or near Scottsboro, AL.  10/29/25

Cabin in the Woods

by Brit Taylor

I got a cabin in the woods

It does my soul so good

Come on over if you would

To my cabin in the woods

Mark took this picture of me while I was working a puzzle on my phone.  I love the warm glow the fire gives the cabin.   10/25/25

Art Journaling Week 4

What if I fly?

October Art Journaling Week 4 {RISK} found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/october-art-journaling-challenge-week-4-risk.43025/

“Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”   Esther 4:16

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans”.  Proverbs 16:3

Ultimately, our success or failure is in the hands of the Lord.  If His will is for us to succeed, we WILL succeed.  If what we are going to try to accomplish is not in His plans for us, we will fail.

I had always wanted to try ziplining, but the opportunity never presented itself.....until my daughter’s paid for Mark and I to do it during our honeymoon!  So, we made plans and headed to the mountains in Western North Carolina where we would zipline and do some site-seeing.

The Lord blessed our trip with safety and we had lots of fun!  I was worried about going too fast and not being able to get myself stopped before crashing into the instructor.  There were several stations to complete on the beginner lines.  It was so nice zipping along through the trees.  I did feel like I was flying at times!  I’m pretty sure that I would not be strong enough to do the zipline now with my osteoporosis.  So I’m glad I had the opportunity to go when we did!

031325 Night Ride

We rode the bike to Ilene’s for supper.  After supper, Ilene and I cleaned up the dishes and the kitchen.  Then we played games until around 7:30 when we got ready to go home.  The sun was just beginning to disappear.  It was a lovely sunset!

031425 Thom-A-Lex Park

We rode over to Thom-A-Lex Park.  I took some pictures and we used the restroom before heading home.  We stopped at the new Timber Creek Trading Co on Midway School Road and looked around and spoke with the guy who owns a wood mill and works in the back of the shop.  Nice guy!  Lots of unique, handmade items to buy.

We were only gone for a couple of hours and traveled just over 31 miles.  Just enough to get out on the bike for a little while.

While we were out and about, I noticed some signs of spring as some of the trees were blooming.

Fairy Rings

Info from Almanac dot com

A fairy ring marks the edge of an underground mycelial network. Magical-looking, but perfectly natural!   From a scientific perspective, fairy rings occur when mushrooms grow in a circle, arch, or other pattern that looks almost deliberately planted. These circles often seem to pop up overnight, but they actually emerge only when conditions are just right for mushrooms. That usually means lots of rain and cool weather!

Like fruit on an apple tree, the mushrooms that sprout above ground are the “fruiting bodies” of a much larger mycelial network in the soil that feeds on organic matter.  However, as the organic matter is depleted by hungry mushrooms, the mycelial network spreads outward in search of more nutrients. This creates the circle-like formation, which we know as fairy rings.  It’s a natural process—but one that feels almost enchanted when it appears overnight on your lawn.

According to the lore of the British Isles and Scandinavia regions, fairy rings were created by elves or fairies dancing beneath the full moon. When the merry dancers grew weary, they used the toad- stools as seats to rest on or as tables for feasting.

The Journey of a Child

Another item from my Farmer’s Almanac email:

The hollow winds begin to blow,
The clouds look black, the glass is low;
The soot falls down, the spaniels sleep,
And spiders from their cobwebs peep.
—Dr. Edward Jenner (1749–1823)

Immortal Love Forever Mine

A Whimsical Adventure October Challenge found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/october-challenge-welcome-to-the-dark-side.42905/

Lines from the poem, “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe

“Get thee back into the tempest and the Night's Plutonian shore!

Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!

Leave my loneliness unbroken!—quit the bust above my door!

Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!”

Quoth the Raven, “Nevermore.”

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting

On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;

And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,

And the lamplight o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;

And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor

Shall be lifted—nevermore!

Keep Moving Forward

By Vicky Whittemore

Driving through our woods at night

Headlight beams the only light

Wondering about the darkness ahead

Sometimes fills my heart with dread

Then I remember the Lord is near

And I have no reason to fear

Driving through our woods at night

Headlight beams the only light

Pieces of Autumn

CarolW Designs Template Challenge found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/carols-template-challenge-october-2025.42956/

Journaling reads:  One of my very favorite things about autumn are the beautiful colors found in God’s nature.  I love the colors in the leaves on the trees.  I especially love the deep shades of red.  The shades of orange are probably my second favorite color in the tree leaves.  I also love the various colors of chrysanthemums.  But, my very favorite are the two pictured here.  I love the happy yellow that reminds me of a bouquet of dandelions.  The other favorite color of mums is called purple, but looks more red than purple to me.  I wish dandelions came in this color, too!   10/1/25
