Love

The greatest love is a mother’s;

Then comes a dog’s,

Then comes a sweetheart’s.

Polish Proverb

I agree with part of this, but not all.  Above all human love is the love of our Heavenly Father toward us.  “Greater love has no man than this…that a man lay down His life for His friends.”  John 15:13. The Lord Jesus Christ loved us even in our unloveableness even in our sinful, depraved condition!  You can’t get any greater love than that!

The top smaller picture is me with my children during the summer of 1986.  We were camping with my mom and dad at Versailles State Park in Versailles, Indiana.

The bottom smaller picture is Mark with Piper, September 5, 2024, down in the woods by the cabin.  If Mark is sitting still, Piper thinks he should be petting her.  Sometimes she is between his knees and has her head on Mark’s belly, looking up at him with her puppy dog eyes begging him to pet her.

The large picture was taken today, February 14, 2025, Valentine’s Day.  We went to Amigo’s Mexican restaurant in Wallburg for lunch.  We wanted to stay close to home and wanted to go early enough in the day to avoid the Friday night crowds, especially since it is a holiday.

Valentine’s Day 2025

I woke up to a message written across the bathroom mirror... “Happy Valentine’s Day!”  While I was in the bathroom Mark fixed my coffee.  No gifts given.  No candy.  No flowers.  No interest in that.  Let’s just go out to eat!  That is how we do things.

Mark asked me if I wanted breakfast, lunch, or supper out.  I told him dinner.  “That could mean lunch or supper.”  My IBS stomach was telling me definitely not breakfast.  So, Mark took Piper to the woods for a while and I worked on the computer doing some scrapbooking.  I sent him a text and said that maybe we should go to lunch and not supper out because the restaurants would be super busy on Valentine’s Day on a Friday night!  So he came back to the house and we went to Amigos.  Getting along in a relationship is easy when you work together and don’t expect things to always go your way.  We are a partnership.  Treating your partner the way you want to be treated is the best way to have a good relationship!

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer  Romans 12:12

My youngest has always been “different” than his brother and sisters.  In some ways that is good and in some ways not so good.  When he was forced to leave home because of the poor choices he was making, unfortunately, he also left church attendance behind.  These poor decisions took him down a hard road.  But I prayed.  He got married, had a baby, made more poor decisions and ended up in a divorce.  And I kept praying because now a child was being affected by his poor decisions.  I rarely ever saw him.  But when I did, I always brought up that he needed to get back in church.  “Mom, I know all of that,” he would say, and gave me “the hand” of don’t say another word!  His oldest sibling said to me, “Mom, you need to turn him over to the Lord!  You didn’t raise him any differently than the rest of us and he knows right from wrong.  But he is the one who will have to make the decision to change!”  So, as hard as that was, I turned him over to the Lord.  And I kept praying and waiting.  People say that prayer changes things.  But, really, I think prayer changes you and me.  God’s plans for our lives don’t change.  He changes us to mold and make us into the people He wants us to be.  I’m so happy to say that God worked on our son and brought him back into His way!  Thank You, Lord!

Serenity

Serene will be our days and bright,
And happy will our nature be,

Masked Feelings

Done for Year Flashback Challenge #6 found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/february-challenge-6-year-flashback.41495/

COVID-19 caused so many problems with everyone.  There were restrictions galore.  It caused more fear than anything I remember in my life.  To me it was as worrisome as 9/11, maybe more deadly.  I had problems wearing those masks over my nose as it made me sick to my stomach.  I was certainly glad when that restriction was lifted.  Plus, the masks made it hard to tell how someone was feeling and harder to understand them.
