What do you think? Besides doing the regular monthly challenges at OScraps, I have tackled almost all of the Designer Challenges, too! And the month is only one week old!

I stacked all 3 papers on top of each other. The middle paper has a blend mode of
Exclusion and the top paper has a blend mode of Soft Overlay. I changed the color of two of the painted
elements to match the colors in Addy’s top.

Journaling reads: I
got these beautiful red flowers from our granddaughter. She and her classmates were selling flower
and vegetable plants as a school project.
The marigolds I know, but the other flower I do not know the name
of. I put all 6 plants in one pot and it
did very well as long as I kept it watered.
But thoughts of watering went out the window when my husband and I got
sick a couple of weeks ago. So, they are
no longer very pretty. I don’t know that
I can even bring them back from their disparaging looks at this point. But at least I have some photos to remember
them by.

Journaling reads: Family.....the
most important unit in life we are blessed with. It is a fascinating journey of unique
individuals brought together by the greatest of all fathers, our heavenly
Father, the LORD God Almighty! Each body
adding its special talents to the collective whole. Just the right sassiness, spunk and
quirkiness. The right amount of brain,
brawn and beauty. Each and every one
growing and maturing into the individual the LORD has purposed to complete His
plan for our good and His glory!
Family.....I love you to the moon and back and back again!
We gathered for Memorial Day weekend, 2022. My sister, Kim, came to spend the week with
me. When that happens, my kids and
families come from near and far to gather for the weekend. The weather was great and we were able to gather
in the woods for the fun and games, food and fellowship all weekend. We had a marvelous time together. Alas, the weekend always comes to an abrupt
stop as the time rolls around for everyone to go their separate ways and head
back home. Our times together are too
few and far between!

Buffalo Heritage Days
Journaling reads: (Most
of this came from, “West Virginia: The state that said no” written by Preston
Williams on April 12, 2011 for the Washington Post)
In 1861, leaders from northwestern Virginia established a
new Virginia state government that remained loyal to the Union. This government
then carved out territory to create a new Union state. On June 20, 1863, West
Virginia became the 35th state - the only permanent change in territory due to
the Civil War. They were a state born
for advocating for and defending the United States of America rather than the
seceded states of America. Western Virginians were very committed to the Union
in a state that left the Union.
After Virginia voted to secede from the Union, Western
Virginia delegates, two-thirds of whom had voted against secession, gathered in
Clarksburg and later Wheeling and decided to carve out their own territory and
create “a new Virginia.”
“People of North Western Virginia, why should we thus permit
ourselves to be tyrannized over, and made slaves of, by the haughty arrogance
and wicked machinations of would-be Eastern Despots,” asked a committee of
Western Virginia politicians in an open letter in the Kingwood Chronicle in May
of 1861. “Are we submissionists, craven cowards, who will yield to daring
ambition....The Union under the flag of our common country....causes our bosoms
to glow with patriotic heat, and our hearts to swell with honest love of
country.”
Jessica and Tim dressed and ready to attend the Buffalo, WV
Heritage Days celebrations in 1998. Tim
borrowed his Union gear from a pastor friend, Chris Dumford, from Ohio. This picture was taken in the church yard
behind the Buffalo Baptist Church where Tim pastored from 1997 - 2008.
